Sec. 1. A charter school may do the following:
(2) For educational purposes, acquire real and personal property or an interest in real and personal property by purchase, gift, grant, devise, bequest, or interlocal cooperation under IC 36-1-7.
(1) Sue and be sued in its own name.
Terms Used In Indiana Code 20-24-8-1
- Bequest: Property gifted by will.
- Devise: To gift property by will.
- Gift: A voluntary transfer or conveyance of property without consideration, or for less than full and adequate consideration based on fair market value.
- Personal property: All property that is not real property.
- Personal property: includes goods, chattels, evidences of debt, and things in action. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
- Property: includes personal and real property. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
(3) Convey property.
(4) Enter into contracts in its own name, including contracts for services.
