Terms Used In Indiana Code 24-4-5-7

  • Attorney: includes a counselor or other person authorized to appear and represent a party in an action or special proceeding. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
  • Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
     If a person suffers a pecuniary loss as a result of a violation of IC 24-4-5, the person may bring a civil action against the person who caused the loss for the following:

(1) Actual damages.

(2) The costs of the action.

(3) A reasonable attorney‘s fee.
