Sec. 2. (a) The
department shall issue a certificate of competence to operate a
polygraph instrument to each individual who complies with the standards and procedures established by the department under subsection (b).

Terms Used In Indiana Code 25-30-2-2
- Department: means the state police department established under IC 10-11-2-4. See Indiana Code 25-30-2-1
- Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
- Polygraph instrument: means a device that permanently and simultaneously records, at a minimum, an individual's cardiovascular and respiratory patterns and galvanic skin responses in order to determine truthfulness. See Indiana Code 25-30-2-1
(1) Evidence which demonstrates that the applicant has successfully completed a course of formal training in the use of polygraph instruments.
(2) Evidence which demonstrates the applicant’s experience and competence in the operation of polygraph instruments.
(3) A written examination.
