Terms Used In Indiana Code 29-2-12-3
- Beneficiary: A person who is entitled to receive the benefits or proceeds of a will, trust, insurance policy, retirement plan, annuity, or other contract. Source: OCC
- Decedent: A deceased person.
- United States: includes the District of Columbia and the commonwealths, possessions, states in free association with the United States, and the territories. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
Sec. 3. The personal representative of decedent‘s estate or the person paying the federal estate tax imposed upon said estate by said United States revenue code shall be entitled to recover such tax so paid proportionately from each such person, heir, or beneficiary as is provided in this chapter.
