Terms Used In Indiana Code 33-40-4-2

  • council: refers to the public defender council of Indiana established by section 2 of this chapter. See Indiana Code 33-40-4-1
  • Public defender: Represent defendants who can't afford an attorney in criminal matters.
     (b) The council’s membership consists of all:

(1) public defenders;

(2) contractual pauper counsel; and

(3) other court appointed attorneys regularly appointed to represent indigent defendants.
