Sec. 1. This chapter applies when:
(2) the settlement is refused; and
(1) money is tendered in settlement of a demand;

- Settlement: Parties to a lawsuit resolve their difference without having a trial. Settlements often involve the payment of compensation by one party in satisfaction of the other party's claims.
(3) the money is brought into court to keep the tender good.
