Sec. 4.9. (a) This section applies to a public work for the routine operation, routine repair, or routine maintenance of existing structures, buildings, or real property if the cost of the public work is estimated to be less than the following:

(1) Three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) if the political subdivision is a school corporation.

Terms Used In Indiana Code 36-1-12-4.9

  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • public work: means the construction, reconstruction, alteration, or renovation of a public building, airport facility, or other structure that is paid for out of a public fund or out of a special assessment. See Indiana Code 36-1-12-2
(2) One hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000), if the political subdivision is not a school corporation.

     (b) The board may award a contract for a public work described in subsection (a) in the manner provided in IC 5-22.
