Sec. 3. As used in this chapter, “historical society” means a nonprofit corporation organized under Indiana law to:
(2) promote a knowledge of local ancestral heritage and custom;
(1) maintain a permanent historical museum; and

- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Property: includes personal and real property. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
