Terms Used In Indiana Code 36-3-7-7

  • Appropriation: The provision of funds, through an annual appropriations act or a permanent law, for federal agencies to make payments out of the Treasury for specified purposes. The formal federal spending process consists of two sequential steps: authorization
  • Population: has the meaning set forth in Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
  • Year: means a calendar year, unless otherwise expressed. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
     (b) Beginning in calendar year 2024, the following amounts must be used by the consolidated city for the construction, reconstruction, and preservation of the consolidated city’s local streets (as defined in IC 8-14-2-1(9)) and alleys:

(1) One hundred percent (100%) of the money distributed to the consolidated city under section 2(2) of this chapter that is attributable to the consolidated city’s population in Wayne, Pike, and Decatur townships not included in the population of the fire special service district.

(2) In addition to the money distributed under subdivision (1), an appropriation by the consolidated city in an amount that is the greater of the following:

(A) Eight million dollars ($8,000,000).

(B) The amount distributed to the consolidated city under subdivision (1) for the prior calendar year.

     (c) The appropriation required under subsection (b)(2)(B) may not include revenue allocated to public safety purposes under IC 6-3.6-6.
