Terms Used In Indiana Code 8-1-17-17

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Obligations: includes negotiable bonds, notes, debentures, interim certificates or receipts, and other evidences of indebtedness, either issued or the payment of which is assumed by a cooperative corporation. See Indiana Code 8-1-17-3
   Sec. 17. A cooperative corporation shall have power out of any funds available therefor to purchase any obligations issued by it at a price not exceeding the principal amount thereof and accrued interest thereon. All obligations so purchased shall be canceled.
