- Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
- Population: has the meaning set forth in Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
Sec. 7. The department shall allocate at least fifty percent (50%) of the amount available to the department to make grants in a state fiscal year to local units located in counties having a population of less than fifty thousand (50,000).
