- Appropriation: The provision of funds, through an annual appropriations act or a permanent law, for federal agencies to make payments out of the Treasury for specified purposes. The formal federal spending process consists of two sequential steps: authorization
- basin: refers to the Maumee River basin. See Indiana Code 14-30-2-1
- basin: refers to the St. See Indiana Code 14-30-3-1
- basin: refers to the upper Wabash River basin. See Indiana Code 14-30-4-1
- commission: refers to the Maumee River basin commission established by this chapter. See Indiana Code 14-30-2-2
- commission: refers to the St. See Indiana Code 14-30-3-2
- commission: refers to the Upper Wabash River basin commission established by this chapter. See Indiana Code 14-30-4-2
- Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.

- Maumee River basin: means the area in Indiana drained by the Maumee River and the tributaries of the Maumee River. See Indiana Code 14-30-2-3
- participating county: refers to a county that joins the commission under section 7 of this chapter. See Indiana Code 14-30-2-4
- participating county: refers to a county that joins the commission under section 6 of this chapter. See Indiana Code 14-30-3-3
- participating county: refers to a county that joins the commission under section 7 of this chapter. See Indiana Code 14-30-4-3
- plan: refers to a plan described in section 14(1) of this chapter. See Indiana Code 14-30-2-5

- Quorum: The number of legislators that must be present to do business.
- Testimony: Evidence presented orally by witnesses during trials or before grand juries.
- upper Wabash River basin: means the area located in Adams County, Huntington County, Jay County, or Wells County that is drained by the Wabash River, including the tributaries of the Wabash River. See Indiana Code 14-30-4-5
