Terms Used In Indiana Code > Title 16 > Article 50 - Maternal Mortality Review
- Attorney: includes a counselor or other person authorized to appear and represent a party in an action or special proceeding. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
- Discovery: Lawyers' examination, before trial, of facts and documents in possession of the opponents to help the lawyers prepare for trial.
- Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
- Executive session: A portion of the Senate's daily session in which it considers executive business.
- health records: means written, electronic, or printed information possessed or maintained by a health care provider concerning any diagnosis, treatment, or prognosis of the patient, including health information that is possessed or maintained on microfiche, microfilm, or in a digital format. See Indiana Code 4-6-14-2.5
- maternal morbidity: refers to any health condition occurring to an individual in Indiana that is attributable to or aggravated by pregnancy and childbirth. See Indiana Code 16-50-1-1
- maternal mortality: refers to death, occurring in Indiana, of an individual during pregnancy through up to one (1) year after pregnancy, irrespective of the duration and site of the pregnancy, from any cause related to or aggravated by the pregnancy or management of the pregnancy. See Indiana Code 16-50-1-2
- personal information: has the meaning set forth in Indiana Code 4-6-14-3
- Population: has the meaning set forth in Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
- Subpoena: A command to a witness to appear and give testimony.
- Year: means a calendar year, unless otherwise expressed. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
