- Affidavit: A written statement of facts confirmed by the oath of the party making it, before a notary or officer having authority to administer oaths.
- affiliate organization: means any entity under the control of, or established for the benefit of, a state educational institution, including a direct-support organization. See Indiana Code 21-30-7-1
- Annuity: A periodic (usually annual) payment of a fixed sum of money for either the life of the recipient or for a fixed number of years. A series of payments under a contract from an insurance company, a trust company, or an individual. Annuity payments are made at regular intervals over a period of more than one full year.
- Attorney: includes a counselor or other person authorized to appear and represent a party in an action or special proceeding. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
- Bequest: Property gifted by will.
- Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
- contract: means an agreement for the acquisition of property or services by purchase, lease, or barter for the direct benefit or use of either of the parties. See Indiana Code 21-30-7-2
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Deed: The legal instrument used to transfer title in real property from one person to another.
- Devise: To gift property by will.
- direct-support organization: means an organization that is organized and operated to receive, hold, invest, and administer property and to make expenditures to or for the benefit of a state educational institution or for the benefit of a research and development park or a research and development entity affiliated with a state educational institution. See Indiana Code 21-30-7-3
- Donee: The recipient of a gift.
- Donor: The person who makes a gift.

- foreign government: means the government, including an agent of the government, of any country, nation, or group of nations, or any province or other political subdivision of any country or nation, other than the government of the United States or a state, territory, or protectorate of the United States. - Gift: A voluntary transfer or conveyance of property without consideration, or for less than full and adequate consideration based on fair market value.

- Judgment: means all final orders, decrees, and determinations in an action and all orders upon which executions may issue. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
- Lease: A contract transferring the use of property or occupancy of land, space, structures, or equipment in consideration of a payment (e.g., rent). Source: OCC
- Liabilities: The aggregate of all debts and other legal obligations of a particular person or legal entity.
- Mortgage: The written agreement pledging property to a creditor as collateral for a loan.
- Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
- Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
- political party of a foreign adversary: means an organization or combination of individuals organized for the purpose of, or engaged in any activity devoted in whole or in part to, either of the following:
