  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30.   • Person: means an individual, a partnership, a corporation, or a limited liability company. See Indiana Code 25-34.1-1-2
  • Property: includes personal and real property. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
  • Real estate: means any right, title, or interest in real property. See Indiana Code 25-34.1-1-2
  • Service of process: The service of writs or summonses to the appropriate party.
  • Settlement: Parties to a lawsuit resolve their difference without having a trial. Settlements often involve the payment of compensation by one party in satisfaction of the other party's claims.
  • Trial: A hearing that takes place when the defendant pleads "not guilty" and witnesses are required to come to court to give evidence.
  • Verified: when applied to pleadings, means supported by oath or affirmation in writing. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
