Terms Used In Indiana Code > Title 32 > Article 26 > Chapter 2 - Enclosures, Trespassing Animals, and Partition Fences

  • Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.

  • lawful fence: means any structure typically used by husbandmen for the enclosure of property. See Indiana Code 32-26-2-1
  • Property: includes personal and real property. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
  • Testify: Answer questions in court.
  • Trial: A hearing that takes place when the defendant pleads "not guilty" and witnesses are required to come to court to give evidence.
  • Verdict: The decision of a petit jury or a judge.
  • Year: means a calendar year, unless otherwise expressed. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
