  • active duty: means full-time service in the:

  • Discovery: Lawyers' examination, before trial, of facts and documents in possession of the opponents to help the lawyers prepare for trial.
  • educational degree: means the degree awarded to the practitioner by a college or university in the practitioner's profession, which may be used under the scope of the practitioner's license, including use of its acronym. See Indiana Code 25-1-10.3-3.5
  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
  • Fraud: Intentional deception resulting in injury to another.
  • gender: means the psychological, behavioral, social, and cultural aspects of being male or female. See Indiana Code 25-1-22-1
  • gender reassignment surgery: means any medical or surgical service that seeks to surgically alter or remove healthy physical or anatomical characteristics or features that are typical for the individual's sex, in order to instill or create physiological or anatomical characteristics that resemble a sex different from the individual's sex, including genital gender reassignment surgery or nongenital gender reassignment surgery knowingly performed for the purpose of assisting an individual with a gender transition.   • gender transition: means the process in which an individual shifts from identifying with and living as a gender that corresponds to his or her sex to identifying with and living as a gender different from his or her sex, and may involve social, legal, or physical changes.   • gender transition hormone therapy: means :

  • gender transition procedures: means any medical or surgical service, including physician's services, practitioner's services, inpatient and outpatient hospital services, or prescribed drugs related to gender transition, that seeks to:

  • Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.
  • in writing: include printing, lithographing, or other mode of representing words and letters. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
  • Injunction: An order of the court prohibiting (or compelling) the performance of a specific act to prevent irreparable damage or injury.

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • Liabilities: The aggregate of all debts and other legal obligations of a particular person or legal entity.
  • license: includes a license, certificate, registration, or permit. See Indiana Code 25-1-11-3
  • license: means an unlimited license regulating the occupation in question. See Indiana Code 25-1-21-4

  • occupational license: means a nontransferable and exclusive authorization in law in which the general assembly establishes the personal qualifications necessary to engage in an occupation or profession. See Indiana Code 25-1-16.5-1
  • occupational regulation: means a regulation, rule, policy, fee, condition, test, permit, administrative practice, or other provision in which a public agency establishes the personal qualifications necessary to engage in an occupation or profession. See Indiana Code 25-1-16.5-2
  • office: refers to the office of management and budget. See Indiana Code 25-1-16-4.5
  • Oversight: Committee review of the activities of a Federal agency or program.
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
  • person: means an individual, a partnership, a corporation, or a limited liability company. See Indiana Code 25-1-11-4
  • personal qualifications: means criteria related to an individual's personal background and characteristics, including the following:

  • physician: means an individual who is licensed under Indiana Code 25-1-22-9
  • Plea: In a criminal case, the defendant's statement pleading "guilty" or "not guilty" in answer to the charges, a declaration made in open court.
