A political subdivision shall not adopt or enforce an ordinance, resolution, rule, or other measure requiring an alarm system contractor to pay a fee or fine associated with any of the following:
1. False alarms.
Terms Used In Iowa Code 100C.11
- Alarm system: means a system or portion of a combination system that consists of components and circuits arranged to monitor and annunciate the status of a fire alarm, security alarm, or nurse call or supervisory signal-initiating devices and to initiate the appropriate response to those signals, but does not mean any such security system or portion of a combination system installed in a prison, jail, or detention facility owned by the state, a political subdivision of the state, the department of health and human services, or the Iowa veterans home. - following: when used by way of reference to a chapter or other part of a statute mean the next preceding or next following chapter or other part. See Iowa Code 4.1
- Rule: includes "regulation". See Iowa Code 4.1
2. Emergency response to false alarms.
3. Permits associated with placing or keeping an alarm system in service, not including any installation permits required by the political subdivision’s building code.
