Terms Used In Iowa Code 214.8
- Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
- person: means individual, corporation, limited liability company, government or governmental subdivision or agency, business trust, estate, trust, partnership or association, or any other legal entity. See Iowa Code 4.1
- Weighmaster: means a person who keeps and regularly uses a commercial weighing and measuring device to accurately weigh objects for others as part of the person's business operated on a profit, cooperative, or nonprofit basis. See Iowa Code 214.1
Any weighmaster violating any of the provisions of sections 214.6 and 214.7, shall be guilty of a simple misdemeanor, and be liable to the person injured for all damages sustained.
