Terms Used In Iowa Code 217.18
- Department: means the department of health and human services. See Iowa Code 249L.2

- seal: shall include an impression upon the paper alone, or upon wax, a wafer affixed to the paper, or an official stamp of a notarial officer as provided in chapter 9B. See Iowa Code 4.1
The department shall have an official seal with the words “Iowa Department of Health and Human Services” and such other design as the department prescribes engraved on the seal. Every commission, order, or other paper of an official nature executed by the department may be attested with the seal.
