Terms Used In Iowa Code 232D.103
- Court: shall mean and include any court upon which jurisdiction has been conferred to determine the liability of persons for the support of dependents. See Iowa Code 252A.2
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
The juvenile court has exclusive jurisdiction in a guardianship proceeding concerning a minor who is alleged to be in need of a guardianship.
