- School: means an agency of the state or political subdivision of the state, individual, partnership, company, firm, society, trust, association, corporation, or any combination which meets any of the following criteria:a. See Iowa Code 261B.2The board may authorize any institution under its control to commission one or more of its employees as peace officers. Such officers shall have the same powers, duties, privileges, and immunities as conferred on regular peace officers. The board shall provide as rapidly as practicable for the adequate training and certification of such peace officers at the Iowa law enforcement academy or at a law enforcement training school approved by the academy, unless the peace officers are already certified by the Iowa law enforcement academy or by an approved law enforcement training school.
