For the purpose of this chapter, unless the context otherwise requires:
1. “Nutritionally adequate meal” means a lunch or breakfast which meets the guidelines established by the department of education.
Terms Used In Iowa Code 283A.1
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- School: means an agency of the state or political subdivision of the state, individual, partnership, company, firm, society, trust, association, corporation, or any combination which meets any of the following criteria:a. See Iowa Code 261B.2
- state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" may include the said district and territories. See Iowa Code 4.1
- United States: includes all the states. See Iowa Code 4.1
2. “School” means a public school of high school grade or under.3. “School board” means a board of school directors regularly elected by the registered voters of a school corporation or district of the state of Iowa.4. “School breakfast or lunch program” means a program under which breakfasts or lunches are served by any public school in the state of Iowa on a nonprofit basis to children in attendance, including any such program under which a school receives assistance out of funds appropriated by the Congress of the United States.
