Terms Used In Iowa Code 43.59

  • Political party: shall mean a party which, at the last preceding general election, cast for its candidate for president of the United States or for governor, as the case may be, at least two percent of the total vote cast for all candidates for that office at that election. See Iowa Code 43.2
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" may include the said district and territories. See Iowa Code 4.1
 The commissioner shall certify to the state commissioner the total number of people who voted in the primary election in each political party.
