1. Principles of law and equity supplement this chapter unless displaced by a particular provision of this chapter.
Terms Used In Iowa Code 501B.3
- association: means an unincorporated organization consisting of two or more members joined under an agreement that is oral, in a record, or implied from conduct, for one or more common, nonprofit purposes. See Iowa Code 501B.2
- State: means a state of the United States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, United States Virgin Islands, or any territory or insular possession subject to the jurisdiction of the United States. See Iowa Code 501B.2
- Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
2. A statute governing a specific type of unincorporated nonprofit association prevails over an inconsistent provision in this chapter, to the extent of the inconsistency.
3. This chapter supplements the law of this state that applies to nonprofit associations operating in this state. If a conflict exists, that law applies.
