- Settlement: Parties to a lawsuit resolve their difference without having a trial. Settlements often involve the payment of compensation by one party in satisfaction of the other party's claims.
510.19 Claim adjustment and settlement.
The compensation paid to a third-party administrator shall not be contingent on claim
experience on policies for which the third-party administrator adjusts or settles claims. This section does not prevent the compensation of a third-party administrator from being based on premiums or charges collected or number of claims paid or processed.
