Terms Used In Iowa Code 515.4

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
515.4 Name.
If the commissioner of insurance finds the name of the company to be so similar to one
already appropriated by a corporation of the same character as to be likely to mislead the public or to cause inconvenience, the commissioner shall refuse the commissioner’s certificate to the company’s articles on that ground.
