- National Bank: A bank that is subject to the supervision of the Comptroller of the Currency. The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency is a bureau of the U.S. Treasury Department. A national bank can be recognized because it must have "national" or "national association" in its name. Source: OCC

524.1410 Application for approval by superintendent.
A national bank or federal savings association, out-of-state bank, or a state or federally
chartered credit union shall make an application to the superintendent for approval of the conversion in a manner prescribed by the superintendent and shall deliver to the superintendent, when available:
1. Articles of conversion.
2. The applicable fee payable to the secretary of state, under § 490.122, for the filing of the articles of conversion.
