Terms Used In Iowa Code 600B.14
- Child: includes child by adoption. See Iowa Code 4.1
- Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.
- Defendant: In a civil suit, the person complained against; in a criminal case, the person accused of the crime.
- person: means individual, corporation, limited liability company, government or governmental subdivision or agency, business trust, estate, trust, partnership or association, or any other legal entity. See Iowa Code 4.1
600B.14 Substance of complaint.
The complainant shall charge the person named as defendant with being the father of the child.
