Terms Used In Iowa Code 633.568

  • Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.
  • person: means individual, corporation, limited liability company, government or governmental subdivision or agency, business trust, estate, trust, partnership or association, or any other legal entity. See Iowa Code 4.1
633.568 Appointment of guardian for an adult on a standby basis.
A petition for the appointment of a guardian for an adult on a standby basis may be filed by any person under the same procedure and requirements as provided in sections 633.591 through 633.597, for appointment of standby conservator, insofar as applicable. In all proceedings to appoint a guardian, the court shall consider whether a limited guardianship, as authorized in § 633.635, is appropriate.
