Terms Used In Iowa Code 643.4
- Defendant: In a civil suit, the person complained against; in a criminal case, the person accused of the crime.
- person: means individual, corporation, limited liability company, government or governmental subdivision or agency, business trust, estate, trust, partnership or association, or any other legal entity. See Iowa Code 4.1
- Plaintiff: The person who files the complaint in a civil lawsuit.
- property: includes personal and real property. See Iowa Code 4.1
643.4 New parties.
If a third person claims the property or any part thereof, the plaintiff may amend and bring
the third person in as a codefendant, or the defendant may obtain the substitution by the proper mode, or the claimant may intervene by the process of intervention.
