Terms Used In Iowa Code 663.15
- Defendant: In a civil suit, the person complained against; in a criminal case, the person accused of the crime.
- person: means individual, corporation, limited liability company, government or governmental subdivision or agency, business trust, estate, trust, partnership or association, or any other legal entity. See Iowa Code 4.1
- Plaintiff: The person who files the complaint in a civil lawsuit.
663.15 Defendant not found.
If the defendant cannot be found, or if the defendant has not the plaintiff in custody, the
service may be made upon any person who has, in the same manner and with the same effect as though the person had been made defendant therein.
