Terms Used In Iowa Code 663.17

  • Arrest: Taking physical custody of a person by lawful authority.
  • person: means individual, corporation, limited liability company, government or governmental subdivision or agency, business trust, estate, trust, partnership or association, or any other legal entity. See Iowa Code 4.1
  • Writ: A formal written command, issued from the court, requiring the performance of a specific act.
663.17 Arrest.
In order to make the arrest, the sheriff or other person having the writ possesses the same
power as is given to a sheriff for the arrest of a person charged with a felony.
