Terms Used In Iowa Code 694.1
- Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.
- person: means individual, corporation, limited liability company, government or governmental subdivision or agency, business trust, estate, trust, partnership or association, or any other legal entity. See Iowa Code 4.1
694.1 Definitions.
As used in this chapter, unless the context otherwise indicates:
1. “”Missing person”” means a person who is missing and meets one of the following
characteristics:
a. Is a person with a physical or mental disability.
b. Is missing under circumstances indicating that the person’s safety may be in danger.
c. Is missing under circumstances indicating that the disappearance was not voluntary.
d. Is an unemancipated minor.
2. “”Unemancipated minor”” means a minor who has not married and who resides with a
parent or other legal guardian.
