Terms Used In Iowa Code 717E.2
- Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
- following: when used by way of reference to a chapter or other part of a statute mean the next preceding or next following chapter or other part. See Iowa Code 4.1
- person: means individual, corporation, limited liability company, government or governmental subdivision or agency, business trust, estate, trust, partnership or association, or any other legal entity. See Iowa Code 4.1
717E.2 Pet awards prohibited.
A person is guilty of a simple misdemeanor if the person awards a pet or advertises that a
pet may be awarded as any of the following:
1. A prize for participating in a game.
2. A prize for participating in a fair.
3. An inducement or condition for visiting a place of business or attending an event sponsored by a business.
4. An inducement or condition for executing a contract which includes provisions unrelated to the ownership, care, or disposition of the pet.
