Terms Used In Iowa Code 720.7
- Judicial officer: means a supreme court justice, a judge of the court of appeals, a district judge, a district associate judge, an associate juvenile judge, an associate probate judge, or a magistrate. See Iowa Code 4.1
- person: means individual, corporation, limited liability company, government or governmental subdivision or agency, business trust, estate, trust, partnership or association, or any other legal entity. See Iowa Code 4.1
720.7 Interference with judicial acts — penalty.
1. As used in this section:
a. “”Court employee”” means the same as defined in § 602.1101.
b. “”Family member”” means a spouse, son, daughter, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, first cousin, nephew, niece, grandfather, grandmother, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, father, mother, stepfather, stepmother, stepson, stepdaughter, stepbrother, stepsister, half brother, or half sister.
c. “”Judicial officer”” means the same as defined in § 602.1101.
2. A person who harasses a judicial officer, court employee, or a family member of a judicial officer or a court employee in violation of § 708.7, with the intent to interfere with or improperly influence, or in retaliation for, the official acts of a judicial officer or court employee, commits an aggravated misdemeanor.
