- Arrest: Taking physical custody of a person by lawful authority.
- Chief judge: The judge who has primary responsibility for the administration of a court but also decides cases; chief judges are determined by seniority.
- clerk: means clerk of the court in which the action or proceeding is brought or is pending; and the words "clerk's office" mean the office of that clerk. See Iowa Code 4.1
805.7 Traffic and scheduled violations offices — fine collection boxes.
1. Offices. Each district court clerk‘s office shall constitute a traffic and scheduled violations office of the district court. Additional offices may be established at other locations, as needed, if authorized by the chief judge of the district.
2. Collection boxes. The chief judge of the district may permit the maintenance of locked
collection boxes to be used at weigh stations and other locations where vehicles are inspected and weighed with portable scales. The boxes shall be used solely for the deposit of fines, costs, and guaranteed arrest bond certificates received for scheduled violations applicable to commercial carriers. The collection boxes shall remain locked at all times and shall be opened only by the clerk of the district court or the clerk’s designee. The chief judge of the district may prescribe procedures for the system and may discontinue its use if necessary.
