Terms Used In Iowa Code 96.24

  • Department: means the department of workforce development created in section 84A. See Iowa Code 96.1A
  • Employer: means :
  • employment: means service, including service in interstate commerce, performed for wages or under any contract of hire, written or oral, expressed or implied. See Iowa Code 96.1A
  • United States: includes all the states. See Iowa Code 4.1
  • Wages: means all remuneration for personal services, including commissions and bonuses and the cash value of all remuneration in any medium other than cash. See Iowa Code 96.1A
 Whenever an employee is separated from employment for the purpose of joining the armed forces of the United States, the employee shall notify the employer in writing of the employee’s acceptance and date of reporting for service and the employer shall, within fifteen days after said notice from the employee, notify the department of such separation and date of termination of wages on a form furnished by the department.
