Terms Used In Iowa Code > Chapter 154E - Interpreters and Transliterators

  • Board: means the board of hearing aid specialists. See Iowa Code 154A.1
  • Board: means the board of sign language interpreters and transliterators established in chapter 147. See Iowa Code 154E.1
  • following: when used by way of reference to a chapter or other part of a statute mean the next preceding or next following chapter or other part. See Iowa Code 4.1
  • Interpreting: means facilitating communication between individuals who communicate via American sign language and individuals who communicate via spoken English. See Iowa Code 154E.1
  • License: means a license issued by the state under this chapter to a hearing aid specialist. See Iowa Code 154A.1
  • Licensee: means any person licensed to practice interpreting or transliterating for deaf, hard-of-hearing, and hearing individuals in the state of Iowa. See Iowa Code 154E.1
  • Person: means a natural person. See Iowa Code 154A.1
  • Rule: includes "regulation". See Iowa Code 4.1
  • State: means a state, territory, or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. See Iowa Code 152E.3
  • Transliterating: means facilitating communication between individuals who communicate via a manual form of English and individuals who communicate via spoken English. See Iowa Code 154E.1
  • year: means twelve consecutive months. See Iowa Code 4.1
