(a) The state fair board is hereby authorized to purchase safe burglary and messenger robbery insurance coverage in amounts deemed appropriate by such board for the period of the annual Kansas state fair and during the remainder of the year. Such board is also authorized to purchase insurance coverage for any rented or borrowed motorized vehicles used during the state fair indemnifying the board against loss or damage to such vehicles and against liability for the operation of such vehicles.
(b) The state fair board is hereby authorized to purchase event cancellation and rain insurance coverage in amounts deemed appropriate by such board for the period of the annual Kansas state fair and during the remainder of the year.
(c) Any insurance purchased pursuant to this section shall not be required to be acquired through the committee on surety bonds and insurance as required by Kan. Stat. Ann. § 75-4101 et seq., and amendments thereto.
