Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 25-3209

  • General election: refers to the election required to be held on the Tuesday following the first Monday in November of each even-numbered year. See Kansas Statutes 77-201
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201

If any two or more pairs of candidates running together have an equal number of votes for the same office and a higher number than any other pair of candidates running together in a general election for the offices of governor and lieutenant governor, the two houses shall, by joint ballot, determine the election. The president of the senate and the speaker of the house of representatives shall deposit in the office of the secretary of state a certificate showing what persons have been elected to fill said offices.
