Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 25-611
- General election: refers to the election required to be held on the Tuesday following the first Monday in November of each even-numbered year. See Kansas Statutes 77-201
- State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201
- Trustee: A person or institution holding and administering property in trust.
(a) The arrangement of offices on the official general ballot for national and state offices for those offices to be elected shall be in the following order: Names of candidates for the offices of president and vice-president, United States senator, United States representative ____________ district, governor and lieutenant governor running together, secretary of state, attorney general, (and any other officers elected from the state as a whole), state senator ______ district, state representative _____ district, district judge ________ district, district magistrate judge ____ district, district attorney ________ judicial district, and state board of education member __________ district.
(b) The arrangement of offices on the official general ballot for county township offices for those offices to be elected shall be in the following order: Names of candidates for county commissioner ______ district, county clerk, county treasurer, register of deeds, county attorney, sheriff, township trustee, township treasurer and township clerk.
(c) The secretary of state by rules and regulations adopted on or before July 1, 2016, shall develop the order of arrangement of municipal offices on the general election ballot in odd-numbered year elections.
