- Laws: means the society's articles of incorporation, constitution and bylaws, however designated. See Kansas Statutes 40-741
- Society: means fraternal benefit society, unless otherwise indicated. See Kansas Statutes 40-741
- State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201
Any fraternal benefit society incorporated under the laws of the state of Kansas may reorganize and convert itself into a mutual life insurance company or into a stock life insurance company by conforming with the provisions of Kan. Stat. Ann. §§ 40-770 through 40-776. Nothing contained herein shall affect any conversion of a fraternal benefit society carried out under the laws of this state prior to the effective date of this act.
