Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 44-601b
- Children: means minor persons under the age of fourteen (14) years. See Kansas Statutes 44-637
- Factory: means any premises where steam, water or other mechanical power is used in aid of any manufacturing process. See Kansas Statutes 44-637
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- Workshop: means any premises, room, or place, not being a factory as above defined, wherein any manual labor is being performed, and to which or over which premises, room or place the employer of the person or persons working therein has the right of access or control. See Kansas Statutes 44-637
The secretary of labor shall have active charge of supervision of laws pertaining to children in industry, and the secretary is hereby given full jurisdiction over and control of factory, workshop and mill and mine inspection.
