Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 47-1511

  • Commissioner: means the state animal health commissioner. See Kansas Statutes 47-1501
  • Feedlot: means : (1) A livestock feedlot, or feed yard, having more than 1,000 head of livestock at one time during the licensed year; or (2) any other livestock feedlot whose operator elects to come under this act. See Kansas Statutes 47-1501
  • Operator: means the owner, or the person having charge or control, of a feedlot. See Kansas Statutes 47-1501
  • Person: means an individual, a corporation, a group of individuals, joint venturers, a partnership or any other business entity. See Kansas Statutes 47-1501
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201

Upon request of the animal health commissioner, the secretary of health and environment shall make staff engineers available to assist: (1) An operator of any feedlot in the state of Kansas; and (2) any person who has applied for a license to operate a feedlot in the state of Kansas, in the development of plans and in the design for the construction of facilities for a feedlot in order to control pollution of streams and lakes. Nothing in this act shall be construed as limiting the authority of the secretary of health and environment in matters of stream and lake pollution as provided for in Kan. Stat. Ann. §§ 65-161 through 65-171h, and amendments thereto.
