Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 55-1606

  • Affidavit: A written statement of facts confirmed by the oath of the party making it, before a notary or officer having authority to administer oaths.
  • mineral interest: means an interest created by an instrument transferring, by grant, assignment, reservation or otherwise, an interest of any kind in coal, oil, gas or other minerals. See Kansas Statutes 55-1601

Upon the filing of a statement of claim as provided in Kan. Stat. Ann. §§ 55-1604 or the filing of proof of service of notice as provided in Kan. Stat. Ann. § 55-1605, the register of deeds shall record the filing in a book to be kept for that purpose and shall indicate by marginal notation on the instrument creating the original mineral interest the filing of the statement of claim or affidavit of publication and service of notice.
