Kansas Statutes 72-2237. Secretary of labor; rules and regulations; subpoena power
(a) The secretary of labor may adopt such rules and regulations as are necessary to implement and administer the provisions of Kan. Stat. Ann. §§ 72-2218 through 72-2239, and amendments thereto, which place specific duties and responsibilities upon the secretary.
(b) Any rules and regulations adopted by the secretary of labor prior to the effective date of this act to implement and administer the provisions of Kan. Stat. Ann. §§ 72-2218 through 72-2239, and amendments thereto, shall remain in full force and effect until amended, modified, suspended, revoked or nullified pursuant to law.

- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- persons: includes one or more individuals, organizations, associations, corporations, boards, committees, commissions, agencies, or their representatives. See Kansas Statutes 72-2218
- Secretary: means the secretary of labor or a designee thereof. See Kansas Statutes 72-2218
- Subpoena: A command to a witness to appear and give testimony.
(c) The secretary of labor has the power to issue subpoenas requiring the attendance of any witnesses and the production of any records, books, papers and documents that the secretary considers necessary to implement and administer the provisions of Kan. Stat. Ann. §§ 72-2218 through 72-2239, and amendments thereto, which place specific duties and responsibilities upon the secretary. In the event of refusal to obey a subpoena on the part of any person or persons, the secretary shall have the authority to bring an action to enforce the subpoena in a court of competent jurisdiction.
