The attorney general shall render opinions to the commission on all questions of law relating to the interpretation of this act or arising in the administration thereof and shall act as attorney for the commission in all actions and proceedings brought by or against the commission under or pursuant to any of the provisions of this act. The commission may hire independent counsel when the commission deems appropriate. Except as provided by Kan. Stat. Ann. §§ 58-3070 and amendments thereto, all fees and expenses of such independent counsel arising out of the performance of duties for the commission shall be paid out of the real estate fee fund.
