Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (1)(a) of Kan. Stat. Ann. §§ 74-4956 and amendments thereto to the contrary, an employee whose date of birth is August 7, 1932, who became a member of the Kansas police and firemen’s retirement system on January 1, 1967, and who was first employed as a fireman with a township from January 1, 1957, to May 1, 1964, shall be entitled to receive credited service for such employment with the township.
