Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201

The state of Kansas shall not be held liable for any damages to an investor in a local seed capital pool.
